Because We Still Be and Galeria de la Raza present

"Shining Star 1972: The Souped Up Chronicles of a Mission Homeboy," or "Always Gallivanting: 40 Years in la vida Showbidness"

Because I've lived this long to tell my story. Because there are still gente who get me. Because there are more people who need to hear the tale. Because of "live," "tough," and "bad ass." Because platanos and queso frito still haven't wreaked havoc on my cholesterol. Because folks still look fine in their advanced age. Because folks still live in my heart. Because sometimes I feel heavy and I need to feel light. Because homeboys and homegirls still got your back. Because this city is still at my back. Because of "sick," "tight," and crack-a-lackin. Because when I say cool beans, you know things are all good. Because gente are always looking for a reason to celebrate. And I'm giving it to them.

"Shining Star 1972" features the talents of:

+ Paul S. Flores, poet/hip-hop playwright

+ Ricardo Bracho, playwright

+ Arisa White, poet

+ Hosted and produced by Norman Zelaya

+ Music by DJ Aztec Parrot
